Don C. Richards, M. Div, M.S., LPC,
LMFT, NCC
A tenured Licensed Professional
Counselor, Marriage Family Therapist and ordained
minister, Fr. Don Richards draws on two decades of service in the art
of healing
human relations and advocating the dignity of life. Counseling is a unique
vocational
call that embodies the spiritual, psychological and social challenges
of everyday living.
As a graduate of Covenant
College, Don received his Master of Divinity from Reformed
Theological Seminary and earned his Masters in Counseling Psychology from
the
University of Southern Mississippi.
Licensed by the State
of Alabama as a professional Counselor and Marriage and Family
therapist, Don is a Nationally Board Certified Clinical Mental Health
counselor and a
Master Addictions Counselor. He is also a Counseling Supervisor sharing
his knowledge
and wisdom with professionals and students across the country. He is past
Chair of the
Biblical Counseling Department at Birmingham Theological seminary from
1984-1993.
He has lectured at Beeson Divinity School and UAB Department of Counseling
as well
as numerous churches and religious groups. Drawing on twenty years of
private and
group practice, Don, throughout his career volunteered for outreach and
ministry to
under-served populations.
Married in 1976 to his
wife, Arden, they have two children, Christopher and Arden
Catherine. An associate pastor of a local church, Fr. Don also enjoys
time with his
family, nature activities and shaping this newly formed non-profit to
serve the
greater community through God’s healing presence and direction.
